Wendy Stone is Professor of Housing and Social Policy in the Centre for Urban Transitions at Swinburne University of Technology. Wendy conducts research at the intersection of people鈥檚 housing needs and aspirations, the adequacy of available housing, and the policy development and innovation needed to address housing gaps.
With a commitment to inclusive public policy and the social value of housing, Wendy has made a significant contribution to Australian housing evidence-base. Other high-impact research includes: 鈥楢geing in a Housing Crisis: older people鈥檚 housing insecurity and homelessness in Australia鈥 on behalf of the Housing for the Aged Action Group; 鈥楶rivate Rental Access Project: 鈥淓xcluded from the Start鈥 analysis of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tenants鈥 experiences of private rental housing, for the Office of the Residential Tenancies Commissioner, Victoria; and current analyses of young women and gender diverse people鈥檚 housing experiences and solutions for YWCA, and housing interventions for young people at risk of homelessness for Kids Under Cover.
Wendy is Chief Investigator to the ARC 鈥楢ustralian Housing Monitor鈥 (2022-2024) study; ARC-funded investigation 鈥楢rticulating the Value of Housing Co-operatives鈥 in the community housing sector; and ARC Discovery Project 鈥楶recarious housing and wellbeing鈥.
Wendy has previously held senior roles at the Australian Institute of Family Studies and AHURI.
